Get-togethers at TMCP centres are special occasions that children, volunteers and staff members look forward to with great deal of fervor. The idea of organizing these get-togethers was conceived to be in touch with children who leave the centres when their parents move to a new site or to a different job. Often, the site where the parent moves to does not have a crèche facility and the children miss out on the support of a Tara Mobile Creche centre. Hence TMCP organizes an annual get-together of its ex-children, at one of its centre, to offer them continuing support and encouragement to a certain extent.
The get-together is a fun-day spent among old friends, teachers with a strong sense of familiarity. The children arrive at the venue in the morning and are treated to a hearty breakfast on arrival. The first half of the day is spent with a professional expert who talks to them about some life-skills such as study skills, career guidance, healthy living etc and spiritual values such as meditation, positive thinking etc. It is lunchtime by the time this sessions finishes. After lunch, the co-ordinators sit with the children and talk to them about their home and school. Current contact details are collected from the children and they are counseled on any issues being faced by them at that time. At the end of the day, each child is presented a gift of remembrance and a snack before they leave for their homes with memories to continue feeling reconnected to TMCP.
