Child Development Program
For toddlers 3-5 years
The Balwadi at the centre is a cheerful and bustling room where little toddlers in the age group of 3 to 5 years gather every morning after their mothers go to work on the site. They spend the day playing indoor and outdoor games, story-telling, mathematical challenges, creative activities and games. Music and dance are integrated in the activities and play way method is used to make learning an enjoyable experience for the children. Pre-school skills such as reading, writing and mathematics are imparted to the children by experienced teachers who serve as the caregivers in the Balwadi section. The aim is to prepare the children for formal education when TMCP helps them get into mainstream schools. The children spend each day here learning and playing. They are fed a sumptuous lunch and a snack in the evening. After a day well-spent playing and exploring new worlds of learning the toddlers happily go home when their mothers come to fetch them at the end of the day.
Meals are happy times for the children at the TMCP crèche.
First thing in the morning, they are served delicious ragi porridge.
Lunch is freshly-cooked at the centre and consists of a one-dish meal that is loaded with nutrition.
Afternoon snack usually consists of puffed rice and sprouts or milk.
Children who seem malnourished are fed a special diet consisting of eggs, bananas and tonic.
